Homemade Hemp Milk

One of the most versatile plants on the planet is finally having its well deserved moment, HEMP! This amazing plant can used for paper, clothes, biofuel, nutrition, and much more.

While hemp is part of the cannabis family, it doesn’t cause any psychotropic effects like its cousin the marijuana plant. However, for years there’s been a lot of confusion (and misinformation) and sadly hemp was demonized along with marijuana. Finally that has changed! While the whole plant can be used for various reasons, the seeds themselves are what hemp milk is made of, which are high in essential fatty acids like omega 3’s and 6’s.

Nutritionally hemp milk is one of the best plant-based milks available. It’s high in calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, manganese, vitamin E, zinc, and iron. It also considered a “complete protein” because it contains all 9 essential amino acids, these are the ones the body can’t produce so it must get from outside sources.

Hemp milk is one of my favorite plant milks not only because of its all star nutrition profile, but because it’s so simple; it requires NO STRAINING! Woohoo! One less step! All it needs is a blender and you’ve got creamy healthy plant milk.
